TGIF

The vet appointment went well. Our vet said that she was really pleased with the way Sasha's eye was healing but she wanted to check her again in about 5 days. They don't think she has lost any of her vision, but she will have a scar on her retina. When they weighed Sasha, she'd lost about 1 lb over the last week. (7.5 lbs today down from 8.8lbs about two weeks ago) The vet said that the medication she is on can cause weight loss and not to worry. But of course, I still worry.

I am really worried about Tony right now too. When Tony was about 23 he got a condition in his feet called Ankylosing spondylitis, which is a difficult to pronounce, form of arthritis. Tony was in agonizing pain and could barely even walk when they diagnosed him. I don't know what they did to treat him, but though his feet still hurt, he is able to walk and get around just fine. His doctor told him at that time that there was a possibility that he could develop the same type of arthritis elsewhere in his body, later in life.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what has happened. Tony went to the doctor last week because his back has really been bothering him. It had gotten so bad that he was unable sleep. They drew his blood and he got the results back yesterday, and sadly, it is "AS" that is causing his pain. There is no cure for AS so Tony will need to find a specialist to treat his condition.

I have been doing some research, trying to educate myself about his condition. It looks like most people can continue to live fairly normal lives with treatment. We are trying to stay positive and just going to take one day at a time.

And, if that wasn't enough, Tony cut his eye open at work and had to get stitches his morning:
